Black History for Kids didn't start with us. We're rooted in a tradition where education has always been an act of liberation, where learning to read was resistance, and knowing your history was a way home. We build on the ground our ancestors already broke.
"Go back and get it." We reach back for what was left behind: the names, the inventions, the freedom fighters and artists, and carry it forward into small, powerful hands. Rooted people rise. That is where every lesson we build begins.
We teach it first, we teach it proud, and we teach it whole, so the next generation inherits the truth instead of the silence.
Stand with usOur brand is built around the globe in our mark: the whole wide world, handed to a child. Every color remembers something. Nothing here is decoration; it is a declaration of who we come from and where we are going.
Remembrance. For the souls lost to the sea in the transatlantic crossing. The deep Atlantic we carry with us, and the names we refuse to forget.
The Caribbean. The islands our people built into home: rhythm, resilience, and the blue-green water that holds both memory and joy.
The Motherland. Deep green for Africa herself: the soil, the roots, and the homeland every branch of us grows from.
The night sky our ancestors navigated by, steady, deep, and wise. The strength we stand on.
Africa's Sun. The warmth we were born under: energy, joy, and a light bright enough to reach us across every ocean.
Pride. The crown every child wears when they know exactly who they are, and exactly whose they are.
Too many children meet Black history first through pain. We're changing where the story starts, putting joy, genius, and greatness first, so a child sees themselves as the hero before they ever learn how hard the fight has been.
Every lesson opens with a Black child, inventor, artist, luminary, or freedom fighter who looks like them and dreams like them.
We don't hide history. We hold it gently, age by age, so children learn the full story and still feel powerful.
Knowing turns into doing: creating, questioning, and leading. Pride that lives in the hands, not just the head.
I taught history and English for years, and I lead in education now, and the whole time, one belief has only grown stronger in me: Black history, Black joy, and Black legacy are all around us.
I built Black History for Kids so children can uncover it for themselves, through lessons, stories, and activations that let them see the greatness they come from. This is the resource I always wanted for my own students and children. Thank you for building it with us.
