We are delighted to announce our inaugural signature experience: Knowing about Me (K.A.M.)
Our live, virtual experience is for a caregiver and a child.
K.A.M. is rooted in the concept of Sankofa.
Sankofa is word from the Akan tribe in Ghana. The literal translation of the word and the symbol is “it is not taboo to fetch what is at risk of being left behind.”
Our program aims to give children an opportunity to learn and to tell their family stories for generations to come.
K.A.M. Program Goals:
Children will learn about different types of families, be able to identify members of their own family, and learn important vocabulary such as diaspora, lineage, and genealogy.
They will learn how to think and act like historians.
They will begin to build their own family trees.
They will prepare historical accounts of select events that give their families pride.
Knowing about Me (KAM) Virtual Experience for Children and Caregivers
Space is limited.
This is an initial interest form. Upon receipt, families will be sent the course materials list and confirmation.
